Local Relationships. Expanded Resources.
Pacific West Bank and 1st Security Bank:
Strengthening Local Banking in the Pacific Northwest
On August 19, 2026, Pacific West Bank officially became part of 1st Security Bank, marking an important milestone for two community-focused institutions that share a commitment to relationship banking, exceptional service, and supporting the communities they serve.
For customers, employees, businesses, and communities throughout Oregon and Washington, the merger represents more than a combination of two banks. It brings together organizations with similar values, deep local roots, and a shared belief that banking works best when decisions are made close to the people and businesses they serve.
Two Community Banks, One Shared Vision
Founded on the principle of relationship banking, Pacific West Bank spent more than two decades serving businesses, nonprofits, professionals, and individuals throughout the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area. Pacific West built a reputation for experienced local bankers, personalized service, and a strong commitment to helping local businesses succeed.
1st Security Bank has been serving Pacific Northwest communities since 1907. Over the years, the bank has grown thoughtfully while maintaining a focus on local decision-making, personalized service, and community involvement. Today, 1st Security Bank serves individuals, families, and businesses across Washington and Oregon while continuing to emphasize the importance of local relationships.
As 1st Security Bank President and CEO Matthew Mullet noted when the merger was announced, both organizations share a commitment to relationship banking, customer service, and community engagement. The partnership combines complementary strengths and expands the bank's ability to serve customers throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Expanding Our Presence in Oregon
The merger significantly strengthens 1st Security Bank's presence in Oregon, particularly in the greater Portland metropolitan area. Prior to the merger, Pacific West Bank operated locations in Portland, Lake Oswego, West Linn, and Vancouver. These offices now join 1st Security Bank's existing Oregon footprint, which includes branches in Newport, Waldport, Tillamook, Manzanita, and Ontario.
This expanded presence allows 1st Security Bank to deepen its commitment to Oregon communities while continuing to invest in local businesses, homeowners, nonprofits, and families throughout the region. The addition of Pacific West's experienced team and established customer relationships enhances the bank's ability to deliver personalized banking solutions while maintaining a local focus.
Greater Resources, Same Community Focus
One of the most important aspects of the merger is that it combines Pacific West's strong commercial banking expertise with the expanded resources, technology, and capabilities of 1st Security Bank. During the merger announcement, Pacific West leadership noted that the partnership would provide access to broader capital resources, enhanced technology, and a wider suite of products and services.
Today, customers across the combined organization benefit from access to:
- A broader network of branch locations across Washington and Oregon.
- Residential mortgage lending throughout the Pacific Northwest.
- Expanded commercial lending capabilities.
- Treasury management and cash management solutions.
- Business online banking and payment services.
- Access to the MoneyPass® network with more than 40,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide.
At the same time, the core philosophy remains unchanged. Banking relationships continue to be built on personal service, local expertise, and a commitment to helping customers reach their financial goals.
Investing in the Communities We Serve
Community involvement has long been a defining characteristic of both organizations. Across 2025 alone, 1st Security Bank contributed more than $871,000 in support of nonprofits and local communities, donated $341,000 to community food banks, and provided 9,500 employee volunteer hours to nonprofit organizations.
These efforts reflect the bank's belief that strong communities and strong local businesses go hand in hand. As the organization grows, that commitment continues to extend throughout Oregon and Washington, including the communities formerly served by Pacific West Bank.
